PPG clearcoat over Rustoleum or Krylon?
« on: November 21, 2013, 05:17:56 PM »
On my last project I used ppg base coat/clear coat and liked it. After many flights and my rough handling it has proven to be tough and fuel proof. However it is expensive, so I am wondering if I can replace the base coat with Rustoleum or Krylon paint then spraying PPG clear coat. Can PPg clear coat go over these paints without compatibility issues?

Rustoleum clear is not fuel proof.

If you are talking about the two part automotive clear,  yes.  I have done it.   Make sure you have a good or great mask.

Two part auto clear will work.  Read about it in my May 2010 issue of FM on the Olympus.
