What prop
« on: December 19, 2013, 02:09:37 PM »
Do you suggest that may work on a RoJett 40 rear exhaust muffler set up.
The Model weighs about 48 oz with approx 550 wing area.

Also what nitro content and what oils Syn and castor blend?

 Thanks a lot...

One of the Phelps style props (10.5 X 4.5) works well as does and 11 X4 APC.
You might consider contacting Richard Oliver (richard@rojett.com) for more exacting information in a given installation.

He's the man RO hisself.  Nice guy also!

Yes Rich is a great guy.  Just FYI I ran that engine on pipe a while and have three.  A great little engine and will be a classic engine someday.  Just don't put too much airplane on it.  I used the APC 11-4.  A good 10 nitro fuel with at least 22% oil 50/50 is the fuel.  None of my Jett's like Sig fuel very well for some reason.  Their food of choice is Byron's  and Glow Devil plugs.

My RO-Jett 61s do not have much problem with SIG, but they have a big problem with 11% of castor oil. SIG is ~18% oil, 50/50, and it is OK on that. Similar to Byron "Classic", although the SIG 10% is much more powerful than Byron 10%. It more powerful than Byron 15%, too, at least it was the last time I tried it. Other than that, Byron seemed pretty darn good too me, and the engines almost always ran more smoothly on Byron than SIG or Powermaster once you evened up the power differences.

It may not be the same with the 40's but definitely err on the side of having less castor and more synthetic. My 61's will routinely load up on inside maneuvers with Powermaster GMA (11/11) or the equivalent fuel I got from Howard. It absolutely loves Powermaster RO-Jett (5/17), so it's not the total oil content that is the problem, it is the castor. It works very nicely on Powermaster RC Sport fuel (9/9).

Yeah, My RO Jett 65 and 40's both like 15% nitro with 5% castor and 13% Klotz.  They will
Run on my standard mix of 15% nitro and 11% castor and 11 % klotz that I use in my PA65, but are finicky about needle setting and definitely lose power.  This is especially noticeable in the 65.
