Title: Postal rates went up
Post by: Mike Griffin on January 23, 2016, 04:01:20 PM
I ship most of my kits by USPS Priority mail within the country.  If I ship international, they have go by what they call Priority International.  I just quoted a kit that sells for $80.00 to a customer of mine in Canada and shipping was $64.00. That was for a standard kit box that measures 37" long and about 5 inches in width and height.  That same box not very long ago was around $50.00 to ship.  Domestically it appears that a kit that was shipping for $15.00 is now costing around $18.00.

I just wanted to give y'all a heads up on this in case you did not know about it.  Everything is going up except gasoline and my social security.

Fedex raised there rated also. Not sure about UPS as I havent used them after the last crushed box there insurance would not cover. Fedex also raised there hazmat fees from 28.50 to 30.00. Kinda funny with the price of oil as low as it is.

When I mail oversize and heavy  items, ups usually beat out the shipping cost of Us mail I think ups is better suited to handle larger packages than US mail.

Believe me, over the years I have tried them all and my personal experience is that the post office overall has given the best service and had the best pricing.   I plan to stay with the post office, just wanted to let everyone know about the price increase.

All USPS goes by FedEx now.
They have the US Mail contract.  FedEx Is getting on the high side. If you ship residence to residence you pay threw the nose. From residence to a business a little cheaper. Business to Business a whole lot cheaper.
You can get an account at FedEx print your own labels and save some that way with their discount.
But in the end they know there service is needed. They have to make up the discounts some where. They have the general  public by the short hairs.
