Possible new ARFS??

While strolling around on the web as I ride 7 hours home from southwest texas. I happen to stumble upon these 2 "ARFS".
 

 I couldnt get the details on them as when I hit the "Details" portion on my phone. Nothing happens. Perhaps its only PC friendly.

Anyone have any info?

Before anyone says anything. No I do not have any interests in getting these.

Only $6 more for an instruction booklet.
I downloaded the free manual for your first link. It’s quite entertaining. Check out the picture of the bellcrank near the end. And the puffy LiPo (the red one, the blue one looks okay).
Tailwheel turns with the rudder. That’s an important feature for a CL Stunter.
I didn’t click the second link. If it’s anything like the first one, they’re both junk.

The bell crank looks awful and its "mount" looks like it isn't even glued in or maybe hot glued in?  Yuck!  Makes me wonder what the rest is made like.

  I would have to say, we have hit a new low in terms of fit/finish/workmanship. I thought the original ARF Nobler controls were crappy, this makes them look like they came from Dan Winship.

I couldn't find any pricing for the CL planes.  The videos didn't impress me much either.  Any way I scratch build now or clone kits as I have too many planes now.

Looks like a legitimate company with lots of products but, if you are going to penetrate the C/L community it was crazy to show that bell crank!   I wonder what the flap horn must look like.

  It's a nylon RC horn, which is probably OK compared to the rest of it. The *pushrod* construction is egregious as well, you can tell a bunch of RC guys came up with it.

  What they appear to need is a competent CL advisor, because there's no reason that this couldn't be a lot better than it is.

Couldn't agree more.  Anybody that wants to offer items for our community should be encouraged.

It appears to be RC as well. A dozen (or so)  spots down was it flying an RC flight. Looks more maneuverable in RC mode, than the simple loops in CL mode.

My flying buddy helped them maiden the planes at Whittier Narrows, I'm pretty sure.
Don Repp and Chuck Rudner (Yes, THE Chuck Rudner!).

They said that they were pretty heavy and only flew "so-so" as control line. I believe he told me that they were too heavy, and had a 2" metal bellcrank, if I recall correctly.

I posted that same info on your FB page. Yes, steering clear is a good idea. Save your money, and buy a dedicated C/L ARF from one of the normal places.
Or, just keep getting the awesome ABO(already Been Owned) planes you have been!

       Both names are misspelled in the credits at the end of the video. I kind of assumed Chuck Rudder was really Chuck Rudner himself and thought to wait and give this project the benefit of the doubt. It doesn't seem to be aimed at the entry level C/L market. Installing your own engine or motor requires  bit of knowhow and precludes a C/L newbie. If help or advice was sought by presumably one of 'us', we'd surely recommend Target's options of ABO or a dedicated C/L ARF. I wish Maxford well.

      PS - I assume professional marketers mostly know what they're doing. Maybe it's aimed at the RC flyers who see it on the Maxford website and want to give C/L another try? They wouldn't care that it's heavy or that the bellcrank is 2". It flew OK in video.

Everybody can wish Maxford well, and applaud them for producing a CL ARF. I never heard of this company until this thread started. If they’re trying to enhance CL in general, I’m afraid they missed the mark.

Junk Cox Christmas .049 plastic air planes did not put me off CL forever...actually forced me to learn to build in wood and have more fun crashing.... balsa exploding is so much more satisfying that plastic and rubber bands springing...grin
