Title: Polyspan fuzzies- CA?

So I have a few spots I got into the poly. Do I sand off the fuzzies first and then cover with CA or CA the fuzzies then sand the off?

Sanding will make it worse.  Use dope and recoat the affected areas.  I use nitrate, but butyrate works OK too.  Put two or three coats over the bad areas and sand gently with 600 or 800.  If they are still there, repeat the process and don't over sand.  It usually isn't a big deal.

Yes recoat with dope and very lightly sand.   May have to double up on the coats over the bad area.

DO NOT SAND!!!!

Recoat with dope (2-3 coats) and use a single blade razor blade to scrape (holding the blade vertical) gently and do this again. It should lay down by then.

Sanding will only bring it up again..........don't ask me how I know. (Or I will tell you)

I just did two spots on my X-Pendable (Zilch) I was trying to feather the bottom of the fuse to the wing and didn't see that I was touching the poly with the sandpaper. Next time, I'll put tape over the covering to prevent this from happening again!

Mike Haverly has it right. Add several coats of clear dope over the fuzzies.   

FWIW I put on 4-5 coats of clear dope over raw polyspan before I ever touch it with even 600 grit sandpaper

You can greatly reduce the need to sand Polyspan by spraying the clear dopes.  A brush cannot provide an even coating, making sanding necessary.  Start spraying even on the first coat.  Once the surface is built-up, a light sanding is OK, but it doesn't take much.

You might be better off putting a small patch of jap tissue over the affected area.
Polyspan fibers don't absorb dope, which is the problem with sanding into it.

The official name for fuzzy fear is haptodysphoria (you can look it up).  I do what Mike does, but I usually use one coat of dope and 1000-grit sandpaper.  I put dark blue dope in my filler when using the PT Granderson finishing system.  Fuzzies will then show up as a lighter shade of blue.
