Administrator if you think this is not worthy to be, you have my permission to move or delete.   But, I think all modelers should see this in case they wonder why an officer will not come when you call.

It is not a wonder.

Quote from: Anne Graham Lotz, Sept 13, 2001
I say God is also angry when he sees something like this. I would say also for several years now Americans in a sense have shaken their fist at God and said, God, we want you out of our schools, our government, our business, we want you out of our marketplace. And God, who is a gentleman, has just quietly backed out of our national and political life, our public life. Removing his hand of blessing and protection.

Matthew 26:52 - "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword."

Yes, but many who don't draw the sword also die by the sword!

I don't think Jesus meant "don't defend yourself"  but more to not start the fight!

Law and order is elementary to any successful society.  When it is lost the Society is lost!  It becomes nothing more than a pack of dogs scrabbling over a kill!  We are beginning to lose that Law and Order to political correctness in the US.  It must stop or America is finished!

>>Posse Comitatus.<<

To the unwashed:

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878 by President Rutherford B. Hayes. The purpose of the act – in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807 – is to limit the powers of the federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. It was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction, and was subsequently updated in 1956 and 1981.

And it means we can't use the US Military to enforce laws on US soil. Sheesh!

Yes but it doesn't prevent the Governor of a state from using the National Guard to quell riots and uprisings.

In case you haven't been paying attention, the recently elected governor of Illinois
is a Republican, businessman, and a multi-millionaire.

And I too didn't see any specific reference to Chicago in the linked article.

And for the record I live in the suburbs of Chicago, and the company I work for has
its headquarters downtown, close to the (former) Sears Tower. I travel into Chicago
frequently, and it's no big deal. I work in the IT dept. of of an auto insurance company,
and 70% of the clientele is Hispanic.

I was recently at the United Center on the near west side to see Rush (the Canadian band)
there. The United Center is also where the Bulls & Blackhawks play.

A few years I had to go to Jury Duty at 2600 S. California, right next to lovely Cook County Jail.

It seems most of the members here live in small towns, rural & semi-rural areas, and frankly,
have limited experience of major metro areas like Chicago, New York, or L.A.

And yes, Chicago has a high murder rate, but they are mostly concentrated is 2 areas, the
far West side, and the far South side. So avoid them.

And there are no C/L flying sites in the city, the nearest one is in Elk Grove Village, in
the Ned Brown forest preserve, which you have probably heard mentioned here.
The Windy City Classic is held there.

Perhaps you've heard of this place?

For the record what has he accomplished?   NOTHING!...reason? he wants to stay where he is and alive!

For the record:  I lived at 3919 North Kenneth and went to Carl Shurz HS in 1956 and 1957.  I had two friends knifed to death in the Hallways there!

And yes, Chicago has a high murder rate, but they are mostly concentrated is 2 areas, the

That's exactly the problem, everone avoids them and they continue to grow and fester!
Remember APATHY!

I have ...Don't go there after dark!

Chicago is not the only place like this but it may well be the worst which is probably why MM mentioned it.

I would say the primary reason is Mike Madigan, who has a stranglehold on the legislature,
and is allied with the mayor of Chicago, The Rahmfather.

You guys, I know every big city has areas that people that don't live there, should stay away from, especially after dark.   While attending a school in St Louis back in late 70's I drove up north to have dinner with my brother and sister-in-law.   When I told him what route I took he was flabberglasted.  He stated it was good it was still day light and showed me a different way back. We were in a motel/hotel that we were told to be back in our rooms before midnight.  Even my old neighbor hood I lived in we don't go there after dark.   Randy C., may remember the Quindaro  Blvd section from 29th St and eastward.   Not the same anymore.   In my travels for telephone schools and office work I've been to a lot of cities.  In one city I told an instructor about a nice hobby shop I visited and he said "you are here to tell of it".  Claims it was a high crime area.  But, it would be nice if our local law enforcement poeplehad more backing.  I think KCK has two officers in every patrol car.  Anyway don't single out Chicago  as there are other big cities just as bad if not worse in some areas.

Randy - he said "The Army".

Yeah, I know!  That definitely is not a legal or practical solution.  The "Army" is under Federal control and is a "Broadsword" trained for Combat...not controlling a population.   Things would get out of control very quickly and it would turn into a slaughter.  While some would probably consider that a solution it isn't.  A lot of innocent people would die!  I would imagine that was the thought behind "Posse Commitatus" in the first place.

On the other hand it is part of the State Govenor's responsibility to protect the people with the National Guard if the situation demands it!  Most of the current National Guard Troops are veterans of Iraq and Afganistan and likely to be "battle Hardened Troops"  Not the best situation to quell a riot.

On the other hand in 1962 I remember training a group of 101st Airborne troopers to go to Little Rock Arkansas during the riots there...fortunately it didn't quite come to that but Kennedy was prepared to use the STRAC forces to stop riots and looting at that time.  At least that's what the Officer Corps was told in briefings at the time.  Posse Comitatus never came up!  We were prepared to go!

Romans permitted citizens to carry personal weapons. Jesus wasn't against ownership of personal weapons.

Quote from: Luke 22:36-38
He said to them, But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one. 37For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: And he was numbered with the transgressors. For what is written about me has its fulfillment. 38And they said, Look, Lord, here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.

Don't do it in Chicago or you will go to jail, you have to unload your weapon before crossing into Illinois and stash it out of reach or take the chance of going to jail if you are caught with a loaded weapon. Doesn't matter how many background checks you went through and have a carry permit, you can't do it in Illinois.

Hey Chicago was already brought up.
