Here's a couple pics to start.

I have tons of other people's airplanes in flight but not too many of mine. Courtesy of Linheart Smith (who posted them here before so I figure it's OK...):

Here is one from way back...

Linheart was nice enough to send me a series of these sort of pictures from 2006 NATs where I was, um, otherwise occupied.
I mentioned this in a previous thread half-a-decade ago that I was *very* surprised at how close to the ground it was getting vertical, because I was backing off the corners *dramatically* all week, and this one (the entry to the wingover) was *absurdly soft* on purpose. So seeing it at 15 feet and with at least the fuse vertical (if not the track) was surprising to me.

More inflight pictures (but not my own airplane...)

BRETT! STILL LOVE THAT SHOT! REALLY ILLUSTRATES JUST HOW MUCH FLAP N ELEVATOR INPUT WAS SHOWN ON THIS GREAT PHOTO.
I personally would love to see ANY photos or video for that matter of ANY CLPA model in flight that might illustrate just HOW SHARP A TURN A MODEL CAN TURN FROM LEVEL FLIGHT INTO VERTICAL?

Oh, I got a lot of stuff like that, looking for control deflections. This is a fair amount of control for a hard corner based on looking at a lot of them over the years.

I'll go along...here are two more. Photos by D.R.

Hi gang,
Nothing too dramatic about this photo of my "T-Rex" ARF (PA 61 on pipe), except I like the unique composition from
low and behind, showing against our Florida sky. Photo was taken by Eric Viglione, our resident club photographer,
using his big Pentax K20D DSLR camera, which is a beautiful camera.
Brad Walker did a fine jog designing the "T-Rex", as we all know by now, and John Brodak a fine job as well,
producing the plane in ARF form. And the PA61/pipe.....well, this one runs like a clock, just like all the others
I've observed.
Times are good.
Cheers.

So far, I have only one photo of my model in flight taken by John Thompson.
I've taken quite a few of other folks; my favorite is Paul Walker (looking determined).

Here ya go.... A couple of mine.. Photos by Elwyn
-
I guess it's time....Col. Dave Ek, USMC, retired, has pretty much been into Ospreys the last few years, but a few of us recall when he was into scale. Here's his Grumman "Duck".

Scale models are just as nice as Stunt models in flight! LOL
Here are pictures of my 1914 Jeannin Stahltaube on it's first flight taken by Jim Vornholt. The Taube is 88 In. WS, 10Lb 2 Oz WT, power by an OS FS91 Four Stroke.
The First picture: Wings leveled by adjusting the Wing Warping using my U/Tronics Control. The Second and Third pictures: Show how much Wing Warp is dialed in.

A little ship I built for an MK-17 .09 Russian diesel. It's about the size of a Sig Akromaster.

a great shot from Elwyn of my Merlin at the 2004 worlds. It was a week of utter nonsense and incredible difficulties but I managed a 15th place. This was early in the week when during practice a "shoe" flew off during the wingover. One of my flying buddies brought the wheel and the pant to me in the pits later. I said "..there was a 1/4 inch 4/40 too, didja find that?" hahahaha
The landing was interesting too, I had Dave, Brett and Randy all around the circle waiting for the plane to land. It was windy and I whipped it back to the into wind side and set it down real slow. Hardly scraped the gear leg.... It was embarrassing to be sure, but my friends made me fell better by teasing me relentlessly....

Did you determine the cause of the break?
This is Rich Oliver's plane on top five day at the 2011 Nats. After his first flight, he did the pull test for his second and that is when the leadout broke. I was standing to the side as Brett and a few others looked at it. To me it looked like it was rubbing the wing mounted gear block inside the wing which caused it to wear out and break. This kinda stuff only happens at the worst possible time.

This was the first of two Sheik's Freedom 45's that I made. This picture was at VSC XX shortly before its demise in a trimming flight. The second built for VSC XXI still exists and flies better, but is still a handfull.
-
Taken at the Raider Roundup at Auburn last Fall.
-
Well I certainly didn't take this photo, I'm not even on the same continent. Don't know the model the pilot who took it or even where I got it from so full credit to all concerned in it's creation but it's been my desktop for some time and to me it epitomises controlline.

Here's Pat's Bearcat on the takeoff climb.

Thanks Brett,, that sure is my plane, but who is the fat guy flying it,, HB~>
-
Here's Pat's Bearcat on the takeoff climb.
How close is Pat's Bearcat in this photo to the Brodak version?
-
Randy Powell may be more sure, But I think this bearcat is a Rabe bearcat. So not much like Brodaks,
well aside from it being a bearcat shaped stuntship,, D>K H^^
-
Duh, I didn't think of it Mark but that makes sense, it looks much better than the Brodak outline. y1
-
Here are a few shots of my XF-11 in action. Powered by
two Saito 40s, which sounds great when they're in sync.
Of all the planes I've built over the years this may be the
one that is the most just plain old FUN to fly.

Everytime I see one of Elwyns' in flight shots I get that warm, fuzzy feeling that is sort of like----well you know.

John:
So that is a vid mounted on the airplane pointing at you? Is the video avaialble for viewing???
BTW what was the outcome with said angry bird?
-
Hi Dennis,
Yes it's one the of cheap "808" Keychain cameras (Weigh about 1oz) which can be bought for a few $ on Ebay. It works far better than it has any right to considering the price.
Don't want to hijack this thread but yes I do have the video somewhere, let me find it and I'll upload it and place the link in the electric Forum. The bird made a few passes but only the one visible from inside the circle. It seemed to lose interest after that.
Rather an ignominious end to the video though I'm afraid, I stuffed it in at the bottom of the Vertical 8 but the camera shrugged it all off and still works. I'm sure I could hear the bird laughing in the distance. ::)

You Canadians wear collars like that, but, true, the left arm is not extended.

Now here's one heck of an in-flight picture. Mike Keville is the artist.
