Plans for „My Way“
« on: April 04, 2018, 06:48:49 AM »
„My Way“ is an electric F2B airplane based on Igor Burger’s „Max Bee“. The in-line layout is adjusted to compensate gyro forces generated by reverse turning drive trains, both in in level and in manoeuvring flight. Drive train is constant RPM AXI 2826/12 on 2600mAh5S battery. Weight is 1’754 Grams or 62 oz.
At this point in time in April 2018, the airplane is its initial flight trim phase on 0.015 x 64 ft lines and I so far believe that it will be competitive.
1:1 plans attached are .pdf files with metric dimensions in millimetres. Divide by 25.4 to get equivalent decimal measurements in inches.

Due to attachments size/number restrictions I will post two messages

Hi Peter,
Thanks very much for the great and highly detailed plans......in your normal "Swiss" tradition! It is an interesting design and I have always been an inline model fan even though this puzzles my good friend Igor. I see that you have not used igor's log flap setup. Have you tried it before?

Will you be flying this model in Landres at the world champs in July? I know that I said "never again" but I will be there once more and look forward to seeing you again.

Hi, Keith

With things progressing nicely, I do intend to fly the airplane at my possibly last World's in Landres and I very much look forward to see you there.
As far as Igor's flap drive is concerned I must admit that I haven't tried it so far. Reason for this being the fact that my recent 2 airplanes
seem to fly clearly better than their meanwhile definitely elder pilot. Which limits my need (urge?) for further experimentation. Apart from playing around with gyro compensated constant RPM in-line pushers that is...

Hmmm.........gyro compensated in-line pushers?? That that sounds interesting!

Because I just love the line-pull increase of pushers in the upper loop of the vertical eight, as well as in corners 3 & 4 of the hourglass, (caused by the prop gyro force yawing the nose out in outside loops/corners). As the same force yaws the nose in inside loops/corners, I had to install an inverted functioning Rabe rudder being coupled to the elevator i.e. deflecting to the outside with elevator up, keeping line pull up. This has nothing to do with the in-line arrangement which was chosen to allow easier compensation of landing gear drag by a -1° down incidence of the stabilizer.
