Saturn flap to Elevator ratio..

Just wondering if anyone knows what is the flap-Elev ratio recommended from the plans or what work best for a 60oz Saturn?

   Start at 1:1.

 Thats what they were at.. but seems to fly better with slightly less flaps.

Most designs do fly better with less flap to elevator.  That is where the flying and trying of things make this either fun or exasperatimg.

Brett is correct start at 1 to 1  , most all full sized stuntships like the Saturn, that are not really light ,
work best at 1 to 1.
If you have a really light airplane you can add in more elevator and dial in more turn "feel" with less flap
Unless you have particularly small or  large flaps 1 to 1 should work best on a 60 OZ Saturn.  Generally the lighter stuntships can run less flap and as they get heavier they use more flap movement.

    Joe, if you start at 1:1, then find it works better slightly off, then why not leave it?  Both of us suggest *starting* at the same thing but that's not exactly an edict that it must be that way forever. And you can tell if it's not helping you and change it back if necessary. I would have no compunction changing it to suit myself, even if it might change from day to day or if it was just because I felt different about it. If you think you fly better with a particular setting then by all means use it.

I agree ,I have even seen 1 ship that had a little more flap than elevator and the pilot said it flew better that way.
IT'S "all" in trimming individual airplanes.....whatever works

I wasn't going to change it back..  I was just going to use the 1:1 as the reference /starting point only. I probably didn't word it right on the first post.   Much appreciate the infos.

Hi Joe,

If possible, use an adjustable elevator horn.  If you are using the Morris style CF pushrods and ball links, it will be no problem to do so.  A slot cut for access (about 1/8" wide) under the stab is all that is necessary to change the ratios with a hex key.

Hi Bill,

It does have the Tom Morris adjustable horn in there already.  that's where I made the adjustments. and the Saturn is a takeapart, so to adjust the elevator horn is fairly easy.
