I'm a little jealous. One of my "other hobbies" is air cooled Volkswagens. Fullerton is the VW Mecca of the world. I think there are about 20 performance and resto shops around there.

Come and join us at Whittier Narrows, that's much closer than Sepulveda Basin.  It is located where the I10 crosses Rosemead Blvd.  Show your AMA card and you get in free on the weekends. 

There is a local club that is based out of Fullerton, the Knights of the Round Circle we would love to have you join in with us.   Contact myself Andy Borgogna or Larry Renger we both live in south Orange county.  Larry is out of town right now but will return at the end of the month.  We fly almost every weekend at Whittier Narrows.  We also have a site local to us that we use once in a while, it is a local elementary school.  Send me an email and I will give you the details about the club and where the flying site is.

Fullerton is south of I-60, so I-10 is too far north.
On I-60, west of the 605 is Rosemead Blvd. Go north 1/2 block to park entrance. Left turn into park, past guard shack, left again, follow road around to the C/L circles.
It's a large asphalt pad with two paved circles, one paved fenced speed circle, and two grass circles, one with a concrete carrier deck. There is a tether car track there too.

Whittier Narrows is between I-10 and I-60, though closer and can be seen from I-60.  Fullerton is on I-91.

Wow! The tether car circle is still there? I loved watching those as a kid.

Yes, Randy.

The tether car track is still there! The tether car guys are usually out about once a month or so to "run what they brung."

They really start to scream when they hit over about 180 MPH or so.

OK I had a brain F@#$t yes I did mean the 60 Freeway.  The 10 and the 60 are very close together but coming from Orange Co. the 60 is the correct freeway.  Other than that I thought I was being helpful, must be all the smoke in the air.
