Title: Pitch gauge
Post by: Geoff Goodworth on September 04, 2014, 07:27:20 AM
Sorry guys but I need help.

Not that long ago, somebody posted a link to a Prather/Hooptee style pitch gauge from the UK. I remember dismissing it at the time because £55 was way out of my price range.

However, I now have the opportunity to laser etch a fascia and then make something similar myself. I've tried the search function but I cannot find the topic.

Can somebody point me to it again, please?

Information on the Hooptee Prop pitch gage is available on the Barton Model Flying Forum.  Just search  for "Hooptee".  Read all of the posts as it is offered in both JPG (by me) and PDF (by John Cralley) formats.

Thanks Louis, exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks also, Clancy, I have the drawing for the Hooptee but I was particularly interested in the Pylon gauge because of the plastic parts. I have some 3mm acrylic lying around here and I may be able to get it laser engraved next week for free.

Geoff...I just emailed you a .zip file of the original Hooptee article. If you don't want it, you can send it back!  LL~ Steve

Geoff, I drew up a pitch gauge on cad to go up to 14" diameter props years back before I sold BriStunt Products. There's a slim chance I may have a copy on CD somewhere, but I don't have a copy of autocad anymore to check on it. From memory I drew the scale and the matching bed etc. The bed was slightly different to the prather so the scale is different.

If I remember I'll look for it and email it to you. Not even sure where to look for the CD at the moment & I'm not in a state to negotiate the stairs to go down & look for it.

I want to build a reverse pitch Hooptee. Anyone have the Hooptee .jpg so I can mirror it and make one?

Don't have jpg's, I was able to print accurate normal scale from these pdf's.
Don't know if you can mirror this or have it converted to jpg.

If you can use nylon or similar instead of aluminum - slides better.
