Title: Piston Poppers Club January '14 Build Session
Post by: wwwarbird on January 06, 2014, 11:07:27 PM
Being stuck up here in the Arctic deep freeze, our club looks for some other activities for inspiration over the winter months. A few years ago we started having winter "Build Sessions" at our normal meeting site in the EAA hangar at Anoka County Airport in Blaine, MN. Attendees typically bring a current project to work on, or something simply for show and tell. Others come just for the socializing and general BSing. We meet for these sessions from 10:00AM to 4:00PM one Sunday each month during January, February, and March.

Here are a few photos from yesterday...

 ...and a few more.

In one of these photos you may notice what to do if you want to do some cap strip work and you've forgotten your T-pins at home... ;D

Sorry I missed it Wayne, looks like you're working on a P-40 there.

It was a pretty light turnout this time Jim, only six of us. I sure can't blame anyone though for not coming out with the severe cold and wind that we had, I guess we were the only idiots.

The "P-40" is a massively bashed ARF Nobler that I've been fiddling with off and on for almost two years now. It's been shoved to the back burner at least a few times. I had a heck of a time finding a bellcrank installation that I was satisfied with in this one, but I finally worked it out on Sunday. Maybe now I'll get back to making some progress with it.
