Paul Walker Impact Plans?
« on: November 21, 2023, 11:51:16 AM »
I did a search of StuntHangar and a web search to see if anyone sells the plans to Paul Walker's Impact.

What I'm really interested in is seeing how he does the take-apart tail.  I have read Paul's trim chart articles in Stunt News and listened to his discussion of the trim chart on StuntHangar Video Hangout, and it seems that in addition to adjustable tip weight, adjustable leadouts, and such, we should probably also have adjustable stabilizer incidence as a trimming tool.

Perhaps there are magazine articles or a Stunt News issues that show how people have engineered take-apart tails that would lend themselves to adjustable stabilizer incidence.

Thanks,
Joe Ed Pederson

This is where I got a set of those plans, quite some time ago.  So, I have no idea if they are still available from this source.

 Hi Joe;
Let me look up the issue that the Impact was in. I can take a close up photo and text/email it to you. I may have a set of plans but finding those may take longer.

Steve Moon still sells plans via UHP. They kitted the ImpAct, so they should still have plans.  D>K Steve

Here is a more "modern" configuration. With 4 attachments it allows the tail to rotate in all three axes "easier".
I have done it this way for nearly 15 years now.

Hope this helps your needs.

Thanks, Paul!

It looks like there are two holes for alignment pins on the vertical fuselage bulkhead.  Is that correct?

I assume you are referencing the picture I attached.
The 4 holes on the horizontal surface mount the HT.
The two you see attach the VT assembly to the main fuselage. There are two more holes below the horizontal surface on a vertical frame that make up the 4 that hold the VT assembly on.
I would take another picture but am not near that part currently.

Did this description help?

Paul,

Yes, was referring to the picture you sent and the explanation was helpful.

No need to hurry if you send more pictures.

I really appreciate it.

Joe Ed
