Not Model Aviation but my neighbor’s new plane.
« on: December 14, 2021, 06:49:40 PM »
Neighbor Steve took me for a flight in his newly acquired T-34. He’s retired US Air Force flying mainly the F-111 and he is a recent retiree from Jet Blue.
I was genuinely impressed by the performance of the T-34, as we did rolls, loops, wingovers and stalls. His is upgraded to the Continental IO 540.
I share a small private airport with 8 other families and we have a truly interesting array of aircraft, including the T-34, two AT-6s, a Globe Swift, a Cessna 120, a Cessna 182, an Aeronca Champ, an Ercoupe and a Titan Tornado 2S (built by Kimberly Delaney Panos).

Wow, and affordable too. We live on an airport also but not quite as nice.

I couldn't be more jealous.  Beautiful property. Ask neighbor Steve if he was part of the second F-111 deployment to Thailand.  I spent the 2nd half of my Airforce "career" as a weapons crew and line chief on the 111.

Hi, Ken - no, Steve was never involved with the Thailand deployment.

He spent time in New Mexico training and then was assigned to an RAF field in Great Britain.

Pass on that anyone piloting that plane has earned my respect.

Thanks - Ken
