Title: Pictures of the NEW RSM P40 Electric Profile
Post by: Mike Griffin on February 13, 2014, 10:31:22 AM
I am waiting on some decal paper to arrive to finish up the decals but thought you all might like a look of this new P40 Profile that Eric at RSM has put out.  It was extremely easy to build and the wing is one of the best looking I have seen in a while.  I will post more pictures when I have the decals finished and the electrics installed.  By the way, the paint is Rustoleum Painters Choice and the clear coat is KBS one part Diamond clear which was brushed on with a foam brush.  The wing is covered in Silkspan and dope filled.  Fuselage and tail feathers was filled with ZPOXY finishing resin, Sanded, filled with a slurry of speckling compound and water to form a mixture like pancake batter, this was brushed on, allowed to dry and then sanded down with 400 grit sandpaper.  Everything was primed with the NAPA primer, lightly sanded again with 400 grit, painted and then clear coated.  Will give you a total weight once the electrics are installed.  One of the best looking profiles I have ever built.  The fuselage and vertical fin have not yet been clearcoated because of waiting on decal paper to apply decals first and then clear coat over... The hinges are continuous ribbon hinges and there are NO air gaps.

That looks gorgeous.   Bet it will look better if possible once finished and flying.   Is this the complete package that Eric is offering?

Since the entire RSM 46 Electric system (battery, motor, prop, ESC & governor) weighs 20 Oz that will make a total flight weight of 49 oz.

You will need about 460 watts of power to fly this weight (150 watts per pound). The RSM 46 System develops 700 watts so you will have lots of power to provide superior performance.
