The "SWALLOW?" Hummm...I had an old modified twin tailed Nobler that I named "The Guzzler" after I stuffed n' old K&B 45 green head into the front end. n~LL~

I think I'm gonna go with "Swallow" because of the tail feathers........all I need now is a 1.5 ounce plastic tank and some black dope.......and I'll be done, but it might hafta wait till January, the North Pole killed my budget.

There were a bunch of planes called the "Swallow", although the only one I can specifically recall was a DeHaviland tailless jet experimental.

This one was an award winner at Oshkosh several years ago. The photo is from the EAA website.

Here's a shot I took of the same plane. I was thinking I had photos of one that was blue and white. Anyhow, here's a look under the cowling. EDIT- I believe this is a Curtiss OX-5. I've seen a few pictures of radial engined versions too.

Google Swallow Aircraft and you will find all sorts of info and photos of airplanes called the Swallow.

Search on De Havilland D.H.108 and you will find, among other things:

Then there was the Kawasaki Ki 61 Hien (Allied code name, Tony) which roughly translates into "flying swallow" !!!!

Intersting side note Jake Moellendick had the Swallow Airplane Manufacturing Company,in Wichita. It seems like a lot of the early men in aviation were in Wichita at some point in their careers, Beech ,Cessna, Matty Laird and Lloyd Sterman to name a few. Jake died in 1940 with nothing. Several anonymous aviation people paid for the burial in the Wichita Park Cemetery just across the street from the Old Swallow Field 29Th and Hillside. Oh Matty designed the Swallow plane maybe in 1921 and Jake was part owner of that company before the Swallow co.
