Springfield Fun Fly October 13
« on: September 18, 2012, 03:49:02 PM »
We will have a fun fly in Springfield, MO on October 13.  I was unable to copy and post a map to this message but if you go to MapQuest and put in Isabelles House, 2750 W. Bennett, Springfield, Mo 65802 it will show you very good directions.  I will post my cell number as well so if you have any problems give me a call.  The parks department will have a port a pottie on site.  I think we will have some judging training and Allen Brickhaus has offered to conduct a stunt clinic critiquing flights.  The last fun fly we had at this time of year we had very good weather and a very good turnout.

I will post a start time soon.  Sorry for the delay in getting this up.  Our schedule has been messed up lately due to a car accident.
Look forward to seeing everyone.

Hey Doc look forward to seeing you.  I think we are going to plan on flying first and then the Allen's clinic at the end, that way if the wind comes up later we won't lose flying time.  As far as the accident, I was in my UPS truck and was hit from behind while I was stopped in traffic.  Even with my emergency brake on and my foot on the brake he still managed to make the truck move.  I didn't see him coming which is probably for the best from what my physical therapist told me (I didn't have time to brace).  It jacked up my upper back and neck from slamming me back in the seat, have had some wicked head aches as well, but they are getting better.  Some of the worst aggravation has been dealing with the head boss at work.

Well needless to say I have an excuse for not showing up.   Thunder and lightning at 0430 this AM when alarm went off.   POulled up computor to look at weather outlook for Spring field area.   Did not look that good so I went back to bed.   So I suppose I  missed another good one.   Even had planes loaded and gas tank full.

Even with varying winds, we flew from 9am until about 1:30pm.  We were able to change these items in the conditions:  leadouts, wing tip weight, tweak flaps and move tank and engine settings.  It was a very productive day.  Also worked on basic maneuver shapes on the down wind side.  Thanks to all who attended.

Glad you guys had a good day.  I spent all day in the shop working on planes and watching it rain most of the day.  Pretty heavy at times, but we need the rain.

No rain even with 11 hours on the road from Friday morning until Saturday night.

Great time especially with Whole Hog BBQ at 2pm on Saturday.

Thanks to fliers who made the drive for less than ideal weather conditions to attend.  As Allen stated we did accomplish several trim issues even with some wind.  While eating lunch we talked and decided that we would like to make this an annual event, so we will plan another next year.

Well, with weather and the old Ford, it seems I can't plan much anymore.  So I will see what excuse I will have next year.  Anyway glad you are planning now for it.
