Why go to the trouble of cutting the lightening holes in ribs only to add tip weight, but why not leave them all??

Hi Gordon,

Beautiful workmanship!  I really liked the first Tony, and this one will only be better!

Where do you get the 3 blade for the .72 and what size is it?

Good luck with this one, i know it will fly great.

Thanks for the nice comments. Some of the ribs got broken and remade. The main ribs where all laser cut. I prefer to cut all the ribs and put the weight in the weight box. The further out you put the weight the less it will take. And the engine is a Saito .82 and Roger Kramar is a .72. As far as the plans go there has been some changes from the first Tony. This one has a little shorter nose and  the wing is built up side down flat on the building board. This raises the lead outs 3/8 of an inch which will help the vertical C/G. I think I answered all the questions. The Prop is a Brian Either 13.5 X 3.8 .

Hi Dave,

There are plans online "somewhere" of that jig.  Maybe Gordy used them. ??  Pretty quick and simple to build plus you end up with a super straight fuselage!

Hey I like it!  I'm usually just pinning things down and shoring it up with a few granite blocks.  This makes more sense.  It's an investment in some time to make but I think worth it.

I`ll have to agree on that. Should of had Cassidy kneel down for the picture. y1 LL~ OH! Did I mention were building both of these big Birds in my hobby room. Had to range my benches some. Between the two birds we are talking 1486 sq. inches.

Here's a picture of Gordan hard at work on the new Tony.   Truly amazing build quality.   He and Roger are such skilled craftsman.  Roger was laying down the Japanese tissue on his plane today while Gordan endured my continual onslaught of questions.

After a full day of balsa dust,  filler,  and the fumes from the dope and 'glass resin,  Gordan was beginning to feel a bit loopy. n~

Bill,
I had the .72 in the Tony when it was first flown. It flew it just great. But every one was saying more horse power, more horse power, more horse power. Well you get the idea. So I jump on the wagon and put more horse power. But, it really flew good in the wind and I mean wind. What a brute. VD~ y1

Gordon,
Very nice work. I look forward to seeing it later this year.
when I was using 4 strokes, I tried the 82. Well, I thought the 72 vibrated. It was sewing machine smooth compared to the 82. I hope the 82 you have runs smoother than mine.

Hope to see you at the NW Regionals this May.

Hi Paul, I thought my .72 ran fairly smooth, but .82 did vibrate more. So I sent it to a friend in Denver and he reballance all the moving parts. I think is much better.
