Pics., who are they?

I found these pictures today and I can't identify two of them, help. This was in 1971 at Westside park in Muncie. I remember this was the first time I judged stunt. Al Rabe won first place with his "Seafury", Lew McFarland was their with his "Shark" and the rest was a blur. The contest feathered stunt, scale, combat, rat and goodyear racing. It was a busy weekend. The mayor of Muncie was on hand and we had a "Miss and Jr. Miss Mid States" to award the trophies. The bleachers were full of spectators and the refreshment stand had a line all day long. Sad those days are gone.

I know the "Patriot" belongs to Jerry Phelps but who does the "Nobler" 40242 and "Tropicaire" 10826 belong to.

Yes I know I can go to AMA and search the numbers but this is Sat. and I wanted to challenge you all.

The Tropicaire belongs to one Les McDonald.  He was polishing it at the 71' Nats in the work hanger when I walked up and met him for the first time.

I canot help with the Nobler.

Indeed, the Tropicaire is a Les McDonald design that predates his Stiletto series.  However, I do not think Les was venturing that far North of Florida in the early 70.s  I would venture a guess that this airplane was done by Remel Cooper who had a habit of producing gorgeous reproductions of the Les McDonald designs.

I have no idea who the Nobler belongs to but I am positive the picture of "my" Tropicaire was taken during the 71 Nats at Glenview NAS.
I am pretty sure that's also where Jerrys "Patriot" was. (By looking at the similarities in the surface both planes are sitting on.)

Les you have restored some of my memories, it was at the 71 Nats in Glenview, IL. I was busy competing in rat race and goodyear that year but did find time to watch you guys and take some pictures. By the way nice stunt ship Les. Thanks again.

The red Nobler is Roger Barrett's

I first met Roger Barrett as a very young man when I first came to San Diego CA. Roger had the reddest Nobler I ever saw down in San Diego. There wasn't much stunt back then, and Roger and another fellow who specialized in Skylarks flew out of Mission Bay. He was very interested in hearing about all the "big stars" back in New YORK.
