Here are a few photos from the South Arkansas Controline Stunt Championships in El Dorado, AR this weekend. I shot over 400 digital photos. So, I will post a few more of the good ones when I get a chance.

VERY Nice Lensmanship! What camera/lens/ISO did you use?
-
Richard,
It is a Nikon D90X with a 55-200 lens. Most of the photos were shot using the sports mode. I use the automatic focus mode which can create problems on shots of the aircraft in flight. If I miss the airplane, it loses focus completely. Since I am viewing through the lens, its impossible to try to pick up the airplane again since everything is out of focus. I have to drop the view back to the ground, pick up the pilot to get the proper focus and then pick up the airplane again.
I shoot several pictures in sequence. I took over 400 at the El Dorado contest. Out of those, I will get a few dozen good action shots and if I am lucky I'll get one or two outstanding pictures.

The Geo Jr belongs to Louis Rankin. The finish is unbelievable and it flies great also!

First shot is a killer. The plane appears to be Dale Gleasons ship from Texas. That means there is a lot of traveling in the Midwest to various contests.
-
Here are the last of the photos from this contest. Thanks for all the kind words. Since Norm was CD and not flying, I included his Thai Angel that he flew at the Memphis Stunt Championship.

Great pics, thanks for sharing!

That is my Impcat in front of Steve Kocher's camera. He does a great job, doesn't he?-this Impcat is seven years old and shows its age. I especially like his shot of the takeoff roll ....it just looks to me like it's off to conduct some business somewhere. I built the wings too long, the nose too long, my bad, and that didn't help it any-Craig Beskow's Impcat is the "For Reals" deal and I've got my new wing done (Hunt lost foam) like his and will do it right this time. I would really enjoy having the designer fly Craig's plane at the Worlds, Nats, or ElDorado, it would be the plane to beat.
Big, big thanks to all the Arkies for their continued presentation of a fine contest, Arkansas is beautiful this time of year, it is on our list for next year,
respectfully submitted,
dale gleason

Is Louis Rankin Geo Jr powered by a pipe motor. Does anyone have his e-mail I love that plane.
-
It is not a piped plane if I remember. He is registered here on this site. You can email him by his profile.
PS - I don't like posting other peoples email address for a few reasons. One being that 'bots" will crawl a site to gather address that are posted in open threads. Profiles are protected by Sparky so our contact info is not exposed.

Thanks guys

I'm quite sure that Louis has a PA 40 UL on a muffler in his airplane. Unless it's changed since the Nats.
