Photos from 2009 Contest Season
« on: November 13, 2009, 04:05:56 PM »
While looking for photos of Jason Greer's electric powered Omega (posted in Zuriel's New Plane topic http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php?topic=14891.0), I came across some photos taken at this year's Charles Ash Memorial Contest in Dallas on Labor Day Weekend.  I thought that I would post a few for you.

Steve.

Great shot of Tom Niebuhr and his Jersyann.  I know probably spelled wrong.  I will blame it on old age.

Doug, I'm not Steve but I think that is Roger Olsens airplane.  It could be Gaylord Ellings airplane but I don't think that is his ama number.

Doc,
You're not as old as you think... You spelled it right! Thanks, not too many people can do that.

Steve,
Thanks for all the great pictures. Well done.

Hi Tom,

OK, which is correct: the way it is spelled on the wing of your airplane in the photo above with you kneeling in the grass or the way Doc spelled it?

Bill,

I thought that Doc meant the spelling of my name.

"Jerseyan" is as spelled on the wing.

There is a story behind the name.

Artie Meyers won Sr. at the 1960 Dallas Nats with an airplane called the "New Yorker". (Billy was 2nd) I have the original pencil plans and had the actual airplane in our house until I moved to Texas. I plan to write an article on this past NATS winner in the near future.

John D'Ottavio's answer to the Meyers airplane was the "Jerseyan".

We were hit by lightning a few weeks ago, and I had to replace my computer. I had pictures of the "New Yorker", but haven't found them yet. I hope I didn't lose the files. I have many detail pictures of the airplane in its current condition that will have to be scanned.

I found some of the "New Yorker" pictures as it is now. Someone removed the AMA # decals. Two New Yorkers were built. This is the one that won the '60 NATS.

Looking at the first 2 pictures, you can see that the airplane had a good finish in its day.
