The local rocket club does use the same park but they are usually off on the edges of the open space (up-wind). The day of the Broken Arrow contest happened to coincide with the Greater St. Louis Modeler's Association's (GSLMA) annual Model Airplane Extravaganza. There were demonstration flights by the RC people and the rocket club all weekend as well as Lafayette Esquadrille's contest. Buder Park was a busy place with lots of activity. Sadly, the weather was threatening all weekend and we didn't have nearly the number of spectators as last year.
I wandered over to the rocket site and watched for a few minutes. There were quite a few rather large rockets on display but were not flown. One of their people told me that they only fly the big ones well out of the city on farm land. It was interesting. Modeling is modeling!!!
