Today was a good day at the Broken Arrow contest for me anyway. My 11 day Ares took the Concours d’Elegance spirit of 68 trophy. First contest it has been entered in. I was in first place and scratched the second flight ( I will never do that again!) and got beat out. I was bumped to second place. But discretion is the better part of valor. On the very last flight of the round.
The weather was bad in the morning and everyone thought we would not get 2 full rounds in. But as it turned out the Stunt Gods were with us and we caught a break.
I took lots of pictures today and I will post them later.

Sparky,
How much ink in the Rapidograph pen does it take to do this size of panel line job?
The bottle(3080-F universal) I got with my pen set is only 3/4 oz. Or does it go a long way?

If you fill the pen and do a job like this you will have enough to do 5 airplanes in the pen. So it goes a long ways!

Thats a serious rocket that dude's carrying. Can we say K-550? %^
I guess they launch rockets near the circles?........Then again, I'd rather deal with an errant rocket vs the motorist we had drive onto the circles today... ''

The local rocket club does use the same park but they are usually off on the edges of the open space (up-wind). The day of the Broken Arrow contest happened to coincide with the Greater St. Louis Modeler's Association's (GSLMA) annual Model Airplane Extravaganza. There were demonstration flights by the RC people and the rocket club all weekend as well as Lafayette Esquadrille's contest. Buder Park was a busy place with lots of activity. Sadly, the weather was threatening all weekend and we didn't have nearly the number of spectators as last year.
I wandered over to the rocket site and watched for a few minutes. There were quite a few rather large rockets on display but were not flown. One of their people told me that they only fly the big ones well out of the city on farm land. It was interesting. Modeling is modeling!!!
