Middlesex Vintage Combat Festival 10-15-23

OH YEAH!!!

Our 10th anniversary is this year!! We lost a couple of our heroes in the last few months, but we will certainly honor their memory. This is a great day of fellowship and flying! We will be competing for the highly contested speed runs and speed stunt events. Come out and join the thrills of seeing and hearing the old dawgs fly. Mountainview park Middlesex NJ.

Enjoy your flights together!

Hi Tom!

It's been a long time.

I hope you all have a great time together.

That wonderful time I had with all you East Coast Crazies contains some of my best CL memories.

Larry and your dad Mike will be with y'all in spirit!

A pic from that great weekend we had so long ago.

YES!  We got lucky with the weather and I'm pretty sure that everyone had plenty of opportunity to fly.  Highlights in no particular order.  Bob Hunt brought out hid Sweet Sweep. Really nice flying ship. Maybe he could build in a noise maker?.  The two fellows who made the trip from NY to fly with us. Big thrill to see that there are others who geek out with these things as much as we do!!  The appearance of  Fast Frankie Imbriaco who flew a very nice flying Voodoo pwered by A  C35  ST. Great combo!  I had the pleasure of flying  the Dennis Warchol built  Frank Imbriaco designed and published Scrambler. Powered by Dennis' own 1962 .35x. Frank got a kick out of seeing it go.  Roy Glen flying Jim Vigani's Lancer powered by a Big Al tuned Gardner .36XBB.  Sweet!  I could go on but will look forward to next year.  TS

(Sigh)   :(

Wish y'all weren't so stinkin' far away.

Sounds like you guys had a great time. I would have loved to have been there to get in on the fun. Did you guys have pizza at the field for lunch? (That was really good pizza in 2015!)

I guess me missing was best, though... at 7 years absence from C/L flying and 71 years of age now, I'm nowhere near ready jump right in and fly a combat wing at 100+ MPH. Got to work my way back to that.

Say, any chance you guys can plan a trip down to Oklahoma City in '24 for the big 2-day Vintage Combat Meet? I will be there, not to compete, but to spectate and hopefully get to sport fly if a circle is available for such.  :)!

A really fun time with a great turnout ! Thanks guys, Tom S., Al, and Tom L. for the pit support. Next year, going to try the speed event but without any expectation of exceeding 120 MPH.
Congrats to Tom Luciano for taking the crown!
I witnessed Al Ferraro's first run and thought, well, that's it- he's got this one in the bag. It almost appeared as though he was being augured into the ground !
Can't make this stuff up !

Wow, what a great day! Tom Luciano Super Satan was spectacular! I'm still amazed how much power, speed and the sound of the Fox 36X makes chugging all that Nitro, It's like watching a Top Fuel Funny Car go down the track. I had a nice speed of 123 MPH and Tom one up me. Bob Hunt beautifully built Sweet Sweep fly's really nice for such a strange looking bird at the push of a button.  We did not do the LiPo battery hurl this year, the ground was wet from early morning rain and plus I would have had to steel Bob Hunt battery out of his Sweat Sweep when he wasn't looking. n1 Thanks to everyone who showed up, I really enjoyed seeing all the vintage combat planes in action.
