Phil Bayly
« on: September 21, 2022, 11:58:39 AM »
I have learned that Phil Bayly has passed.
Phil was an incredible person as well as an avid air modeler.
He was a THREE SERVICE veteran...Navy (Annopolis, I believe), Army Air Corps and Air Force.
He was a "motorman" and could get almost any ragged old glow or ignition engine running.
He was an avid Free Flighter.
Phil was also a multi time Air Force Model Aviation Team member. He flew a lot of speed and racing, but was also proficient in Stunt.

Sadly, people with Phil's talent and experience are becoming rarer and rarer.

He will be missed.

I flew with Phil at the 1970 Air Force World Wide Model Airplane Championships.  We both made the Air Force Team to the Nationals that year and the Team successfully defended its National Team Champion title.  A few years later, we were both stationed in Washington DC where we attended several FF contests in Virginia.  Great road trips.  I really enjoyed the times that we had together.  Really sorry to hear of his passing.

Phil was a B-47 pilot in late 1940's to mid 1950's.  He was going to the B58 program when they shut it down.
Long time friend. Miss you Phil.

Sorry to hear of this. My sympathies go out to all his family and friends. My father, Paul, spoke highly of Phil and they were good friends. He was always a good source of knowledge and friendship. He helped me in the hobby a few times. I will miss him.
