Title: Perfect Flying Site
Post by: john e. holliday on June 26, 2008, 07:47:27 AM
Just read the latest on the "Stunt-A-Thon" and the wind problems they faced and the clearances.  Is there a perfect place for flying control line planes?  I have heard of some of the Jersey guys/gals flying in a bowl.  The fellows in Stuart FL having to share the soccer field with no chance of a contest.  Houston Texas with the high humidity.  Here in KANSAS we put up with wind most of the time and at Gage Park depending on the direction it can be a real battle.  But, then again there at Gage and the new circle up north of Claycomo MO I have had some really great days.  Have fun, DOC Holliday

We have one of the nicest places to fly (except for the wind) at the Smoky Hill R/C flying field at Salina. Very nice buffalo grass, watered and mowed weekly, concrete pads for takeoff and center of circle, and no trees.

Huntersville NC, paved circles maintained by the county.Light winds most of the time but it is hot after 11 am getting to around 90 this time of year. People here complain about the humidity but compared to Florida it is nothing. You could run a jet here and no one would hear it.
