CL around Houston, Tx
« on: October 10, 2022, 08:12:50 AM »
Greetings, gentlemen
Any control line activity in and near Houston, Tx? My son, an oil&gas engineer living in Australia, is being sent over to the USA for a four-year stint. He will be moving to Houston with his family by the end of the year. He's a stunt and race pilot and would like to link up with control liners there.
Thanks, Ferenc

Scobee Field in Katy , Texas is where you'll be flying.

Welcome aboard ......
...like Dan said the best controlline flying site in the world is Scobee Field in George Bush Park on the west side of Houston, near Katy.  The Energy sector is considered to be the area of IH-10 west of town.  He'll find a bunch of old farts who fly almost every morning and weekends.  This field was the 2015 site of the US F2B team selection trials.  We were planned for 2017, but the field was under 10+ feet of water due to Hurricane Harvey.  We welcome all flyers, even if they speak a foreign language,

It's not exactly in the neighborhood, but the arguably biggest racing contingent in the US is in Dallas. We also have a good stunt group. He'd be welcome to come fly with us any time as well. We've hosted multiple F2C team trials, and when Houston got flooded out, the F2B trials were moved up to Dallas. Our field's not too bad either.
