Title: Payment Methods
Post by: Mike Griffin on February 24, 2011, 09:49:49 AM
What do you prefer to use when buying kits and accessories on line?

PayPal?

Credit Card?

Personal Check?

Which of the above 3 payment methods do you prefer?  Do you hesitate to buy from suppliers who do not take credit cards?

Thanks for your input

HI Mike,

"Personally", I only like to use Pay Pal.  It is quick and secure, I can do it from the computer at any time of day or night.  The wife doesn't like to see three digit checks written for anything other than mortgage and electrical bills, etc.. (can't argue with the "Boss"! LOL!!)  Home front battles are not fun.  I have not had a credit card in over 8 years, and will not again, so that's out. ;D

I will get money orders when Pay Pal is not a choice.  All us "old codgers" are probably different, but more choices will cover more customers.  In this tiny area of the universe (CLPA), personal checks seem to be fine since everyone is "known" to everyone else! LL~

Glad to see you are heading back into business!
Bill

PAYPAL. If there is not enough money in the account, then there is a seldom used Credit Card to handle it.

Obviously I am asking this question because I will be building my new website soon and I am asking to see if taking credit cards is a necessity for our hobby.  I am not wild about setting up to take credit cards but If I need to I will.  I know that PayPal is used a lot by people in our hobby and I personally like it.

For me it's #1 Credit Card(actually a debit but same requirements) #2 is PayPal and a distant third is check. If they won't/don't take CC's I'm usually out and will buy somewhere else that will.

I prefer money order or Cashier's Check, I use a credit card as little as possible. I do have Paypal but I don't really care to use it.

I prefer PayPal.  However, my webmaster has me set up to take credit cards, and it seems that they actually go through Paypal.  I dunno how that is, but when I just paid for a booth for the Toledo Show the credit card went through my Paypal site.  I can't tell you how that is, but I'm sure you can check it out.  If you care to check out my site it's www.authorwillhinton.com   My webmaster is hard to get to respond quickly, or I'd give you his email.  You can contact him through the site, however.
Good luck on getting set up with easy access!
Blessings,
Will

PayPal should be good, although I don't think I have an account at the moment. I believe many use credit cards through PayPal.

Credit Card, although I think that may cause some small extra expenses to you.

Within Europe, I've sometimes used direct bank transfers that I can do online, without leaving home. It seems to take a working day or two for my bank and the receiver's bank to process an international transfer. Domestic transfers happen almost immediately.

PAYPAL. Their margin might be smaller than a credit card for your business...
