I was recently on Fargo ND for business and when out of town I usually look for the local hobby shops. I have spent most of my adult life flying jets and giant scale airplanes. Helicopters have gotten in there also. As a younger me I loved flying controline planes. Mostly cox RTF c/l planes. PT-19's , Cessna 150's, Crusaders, etc... After that I moved on to the Carl Goldberg models and I enjoyed building and flying them immensely. At some point my father and I made the move to R/C and I let the C/L part of my modeling lapse. I had always wanted a large stunt model but never persued it. When Brodak came out with there rtf models I jumped at the chance to go back in time. I bought a cardinal and a new OS .46 stunt engine and jumped back in full throttle so to speak. I think one of the things that held me back was that most hobby shops I had ever been to didn't cater to C/L airplanes. Fast forward to Fargo! I stopped in one shop that had mostly cars and asked is there any shops here with airplane stuff. They said yes, "Paul's Model Supply" but they have mostly those planes you fly on strings. I know what your thinking , kind of a negative answer huh. Well I was like WOO HOO!!!! So up the street I went. Now in my lifetime I have never been to such a well equipped hobby shop dedicated (mostly) to C/L modeling. And in talking with Paul I learned a lot about what I've missed over the years. If your ever in the Fargo area for whatever reason you need to stop in and see Paul and see what a real hobby shop looks like! Thank you Paul for your time and dedication to this segment of our Hobby. And helping fill me in on what I've missed over the years.
