Pampa renewal confusion
« on: December 18, 2017, 06:55:13 PM »
So, about a month ago i got a letter in the mail that said, "Please wait to renew your PAMPA membership, we are in the process of determining a new lower subscription price, and the renewal date will be in March."
Today i get an email that warns, "Your membership expires 12-31-17, in 14 days".
So, I'm a bit confused gents. What's happening here?

Respectfully,
Chris Behm.
Regards,
Chris

I got the same email tonight. Just reread Dennis Adamison's  post from back in October just to make sure I was remembering it correctly. Maybe it's time fora refresher update so we all can stay on top of it? I just don't want to miss out on anything.
  Thanks a lot,

Hi Everyone,

Please don’t renew and ignore emails from the website. I can’t turn off the auto generated renewal notice. We are figuring out the 2018 dues.

Thank you!
Chris

Roger Wilcox!  That is what I figured but I'm sure others will appreciate the reminder. I'm all for the April renewal.

Thanks Chris Rud.
I suspected that might be the case, but wanted to check.
Merry Christmas.

This is not awesome ..... I got two emails counting down to the end of my subscription. I have an uninterrupted collection of SN from the day I first joined back in the 90s.

I don't come here much anymore and was unaware of the guidance NOT to renew.

So I have renewed for the next year, and the promptly got an email saying BTW it's gonna expire in 13 days!!!!

Can someone let mr who to speak to regarding this please?  Perhaps an obvious note on the pampa site would assist.  Or turn the Ecommerce off!!!

Bruce

I joined PAMPA in June and have only got one magazine, does that sound about right?

Not to bust anyone's chops...just info

I log on to all my favorite sites every day...many with nothing terribly new

On stop is always the PAMPA site

Right on top of first page is the effort to change membership dates and the DO NOT renew right now notice

I also prefer the e-magazine as it is actually easier for me to read the whole thing on my wide screen second monitor...I bet impossible on a tablet or cell phone

I recently got a letter in the mail about the membership thing... first thing I did was contact the sender and tell him I DO NOT NEED any snail mail notices...waste of typing, print/copy, paper, envelope address label, stamp.....his time and PAMPA funds wasted on me

I do not precision fly and never will...I am a member to support the special interest...one I feel is important to the Hobby and the country

Did you get a cover with this?  It looks like the inside page of the magazine with no cover.  Is that correct.

And yes, it looks like I got something else to look into.

I found the cover last night, it was in a magazine stack under the coffee table.

So I should hold off Joining till March. I figured I finally join, as I just grudgingly joined the AMA as well. I figured it was pointless to join especially in light of the post as it would only be a couple month before renewal seeing that memberships all expire at the same time. Who's Idea was that anyway?

 Who's Idea was that anyway?

The EC decided to move the due date from December to March for several reasons.

One it is quite a busy time for everyone.  Including the Secretary who is trying to keep up with a large influx of renewals PLUS do his normal  daily life stuff with Christmas and the like.  If moved to March the Christmas rush itself is over and things should be quieter in his/her normal life.

Second: It is also a time of year that is harder of peoples pocket books with Christmas and many dues coming up like AMA and many other activities that everyone is involved with.  With things being slower it is hoped people would have an easier time signing up because the financial burden of the year should be less.

That is the reasoning behind the move.

Not the date when all memberships expire. I mean not many, certainly not me would join up say in January, pay membership for a year then have it expire two months later. So people hold off and by the time renewal rolls around again hey have forgotten all about it. Just about every other subscription service if you join in say July your membership / subscription comes up for renewal the next year in July.

That is the reasoning behind the move.

Now that I am back from my parents house.

I think you are taking this a little wrong.  We are not asking to join in January just to have to rejoin in March.  We are basically giving a 3 month extension to everyone.  Nobody is getting short changed.  Just the opposite.
