There seems to have been some confusion by some PAMPA members who have registered onto the new PAMPA website (pampacl.org). Even if you have successfully registered onto the new site, you will still need to re-up for 2015. Apparently many thought that by registering they were automatically members past 2014. Not so...
For those of you who have never joined PAMPA, now is a great time to do that. PAMPA was originally conceived of as an organization dedicated to promoting communication between stunt fliers and also as an AMA recognized SIG (Special Interest Group) that administers and staffs the CL Aerobatics portion of the Nats. PAMPA came into existence in 1973 at the Nats in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It was the brainchild of Wynn Paul.
PAMPA has waxed and waned over the years, but it is now a very solid and vibrant organization that does so much more than its originally intended purpose. Membership is a bit down of late, mainly because of the natural attrition due to many members aging out (if you get my drift...). If you have any interest at all in aerobatic flying (and, as the Editor of the 100 page, bi-monthly newsletter/magazine, I define aerobatics as any intentional deviation from level flight...), you'd be well served by PAMPA.
There are different levels of membership, predicated on how you wish to receive your newsletter/magazine. You can get the paper version, a full-color CD version, or just access to the full-color version on the website as a member. The whole enchilada gets you both the paper magazine and the access to the full-color online version. You also get access to all the previous year's newsletters/magazines in color and you can download them from the site.
Stunt News contains a wealth of information on building, flying, competing, news about the goings on in your particular district (PAMPA districts are broken up in the same manner as the AMA districts), contest reports and a contest calendar, information about all types of power systems, contest coverage, CL stunt history articles, construction features, and much more. If you are a CL Stunt fan, there is no other publication in the world that caters to your interest as does Stunt News.
Our hobby/sport is diminishing in numbers. We need to all join together to keep it going well into the future. Please consider a membership in PAMPA as an investment towards that goal.
Again, the place to go to join is: pampacl.org
