So what are you slowing the RPM down to. And what prop. Igor’s setup is for a higher calling, and longer lines.
I'm sure Igor is flying 5 meter lines, at least that's what he told me he was using and we're slightly longer than that by 1/2 meter. Our lines handle to tip are 21 feet minus one meter wingspan which works out to be 5.46 meters.
I haven't any idea what the prop is turning as my tach doesn't work inside with the lights. It's enough to hold the airplane vertical against my hand on the ground. That's my normal way of initially setting up a new airplane. The motors on these airplanes are the Suppo 2208/17 1100 kv a bit above half throttle so probably around 4000 - 4500 with the 2s battery we're using.
The prop we like for these airplanes is the APC 10x4.6 SF. Igor likes the GWS 10 x 4.6 which we haven't tried yet. It's lighter than the APC and will have less precession. The precession on these guys is very noticeable as is the huge amount of aft line position but that's about the only way to fly so slow and maintain good line tension. We have tried the APC 10x4.7 SF but it's big paddle blades and weight cause big time precession.
I haven't tried the 9x4 at Igor's input since he says it isn't enough to get the vertical performance. The new Mystery Ship model is slightly smaller than the GeeBee and it may want the smaller propeller. It should fly tomorrow. We'll see.
