Dick Carville, Norm Liversidge, and I took a trip down to NJ for the Pal Park Contest last weekend. Weather was a bit breezy with comfortable temperatures. Always great to come out for the NJ/NY contests and see the guys. Missed the Philly Flyers and some of the CT guys though.
I think I have the results correct:
Expert:
1) Buddy Wieder
2) Jose Modesto
3) Will DeMauro
Advanced:
1) Norm Liversidge
2) Neal Beekman
3) Chris Sarnowski
Top expert flyers were all electric power, advanced flyers using glow. Neal's NY Mets profile Nobler looked great and flew great.
Thank to Rick Giaccobone and Mike Cooper for running the contest, plus thanks to the judges John D'Octavio, Jimmy Demerel, Ken 'Sleepy' Dawson, and the other advanced judge whose name I forget! And thanks to Mike's daughter for tallying scores, etc.
Good to see Tom Hampshire, Bob Lampione, Mike Ostello, George Waters, too!
Apologies for butchered names!

I always enjoy going to Pal Park. I missed seeing Neal and Sleepy. I truly enjoy flying the fun scale event and Roy does a great job. My son Shawn and I kidnapped Dan Banjock and took him to Middlesex fall combat meet. Winds were pretty gusty early in the day. We were wondering how the stunt guys were doing in the wind. We had a great time there. The past few meets have been torrential down pours 1/2 way through the event. We still flew though with rain so hard we needed extra hands just to keep the streamers out of the water. In addition to the canopies on the tents filling up with water and collapsing it was great. Dan as usual flew some good matches. Hopefully we get to attend part 2 of the fall stunt meet. I don't think were at Palisades though. Ken

Steve...the GSCB has run their Fall Air Shows on two weekends since about 1973 or so.
The GSCB field in Lincoln Park has three circles and for years Carrier and Scale, as well as OTS (later Classic was added) were flown on the Columbus Day weekend, and PA was flown the following weekend.
The days are shorter in NJ and trying to fly everything at once would have run into dark shortening the event.
Interest in Carrier has waned and the Scale guys would rather fly over pavement, but interest in OTS and OTS II has kept everyone happy.
