Sparky,
That gun with the plastic cup looks like Harbor Freight's older gun that I really like. The only problem is that I have had the plastic lid split open and have not been able to replace the cup since the threads are different from other guns. The Harbor Freight in  the Dallas area now sells a different touchup gun with a stainless cup that is too big and the cup will not install on the older gun that I really like.

What is the model number on your new gun?

That is the item number in the latest ads. It looks a lot like my older touch up gun I have. I hope they have cups available that will fit my gun. I would hate to have to throw away a perfectly good gun.  I will also will check to see if they will charge me the full $35 for a new touch up gun  I am wondering if you were the lucky beneficiary of a mistake.

Tom, you may check with a local paint store,, there are aftermarket cup assemblies available for many guns,, and there are only a limited number of thread attachment types, its very likely that a cup from a SATA or other mainstream gun would fit,, of course,, its also just as likely that buying a new gun would be cheaper than just buying a new cup

I have already looked into that. My PPG store can't match it.

The touchup gun that I use for clear only is a Saito. Not the same.

Tom- That looks like the same gun I am using. I have a couple of spare caps, they measure 2.5" outside diameter. I bought them at Harbor freight some time ago. If this sounds like the right item I will bring you one the next time we meet.

I checked with a HF store in Portland OR this afternoon and the price of the gun is $34.95.  Apparently Sparky was just lucky with a clerk that made a mistake.

I think this is the gun Tom Morris sells for like $20 on stunthanger hobby...always good to support our cottage guys too! Mine works like a dream. I used to paint for a living and had Chicago guns that were hundreds of dollars and did not perform as well as the one i got from Tom...
