So, if this is the last one at Reno, are they going to continue else where or is this "it"? D>K

I think this will most likely be "it". There was some talk about a site yet to be built north of Las Vegas. Lots of other rumors. It's not like they can just pitch some big tents and have this event. It took 50 years to evolve. The inherent danger of the sport and record of accidents over the years will turn just about anyone off on the idea in today's litigious society. The small classes like the Formula 1 and Sport Biplane may continue in smaller venues, remains to be seen. Some say the Sport Class will become the new Unlimited if it continues. Some of the heavily modified war birds have already been restored back to stock configuration, as they hold more value that way. It's a shame it has to end, but its inevitable I think. I'm glad I got to go in 1999 and crewed on Chris McMillin's Pitts. That fulfilled a childhood dream!!

I got back from the races yesterday. They are already promoting next year's races in Las Vegas, at the site of the yet to be built US Space Port. The site is actually near Pahrump. A very doable drive from SoCal. Scheduled for the end of October.

With the collision and crash that ended the day today, time will tell if that proceeds. I read a comments somewhere that the Vegas venture couldn't happen until 2025. After today, it's just too soon to say. The air race community is a pretty resilient collection of people  I was in Reno in 1999 when Gary Levitz was lost in Miss Ashley II. They know the dangers and the risks, and when the unthinkable does happen, the grieve and remember those they lost, and then move on with what they love, because that's what those that have gone on before them would do.

My Dad lived in the Air Community in Ocala with Jimmy Leeward who was killed in his P51 crash, I think in 2010.  Supposedly, a trim tab on his elevator came off.

I still cannot believe the AT6s had a midair collision in such a clear day.  That is such an avoidable accident.  Aircraft distance spacing is one of the first things taught.
