David.........the rumor is that his favorite C/L model was a SASSY SAUCER designed by George P. Harris around 1950 or so.  They say that "Gordo" preferred the old Fox .29 stunt engine for this particular model as George P. Harris had recommended.   Harris did claim that a .19 would fly it just fine and that a .35 would turn it into a "tethered firecracker".  My first SASSY SAUCER was built in 1955 as a 15 year old and was powered by a K&B .35 greenhead.  It was definately a "tethered firecracker".  My second copy of this design is still on the workbench and is ready for covering.  This time, in 2017, I will go with George's recommendation of an early Fox .29 stunt engine this time (I have 5 of these) and besides I'm 77 years old and not able to handle "tethered firecrackers" anymore.    D>K    H^^

Cool! I always liked off beat aircraft. I have built a couple 1/2A saucers and have one of Pat King's Super Saucer kits under the bench to build.

Pat's Super Saucer is cool. a blow up of the old Jetco Saucer from the late 50's by Paul Del Gatto. I was really glad when Pat did the enlargement as the original was only 14 inches in diameter this one is 22 inches and I have the 60 sized kit at over 1000 square inches  of area in a 36 inch diameter saucer. This was /is the prototype model  it is hanging on my wall in the shop. Incidentally it is not a slow model with the Enya 35 on the nose It is maneuverable, fast and will surprise you with its glide after the engine stops. The 60 size is going to be converted to electric for my model.
