P47D Kit
« on: July 30, 2022, 03:44:12 PM »
Does any manufacturer still produce a CL P47D kit?  I really like the design by Charles Parrot and probably would settle for the plans If I cannot find a kit.  If just plans, does anyone know who may have a set of them?

Thank you
Mike

Tom Dixon has the plans and in the past made kits of the Parrot P-47.

Pat Johnston has Thunderbolt plans for profile and built up versions, sized for a LA46, 55" span.  Plans view below.

Matt Colan has reported a nice flying, classic legal version of his grandfather's P47 razorback design.  Pictured below.

I have the plans to that airplane. I’m building myself one for classic right now. Still need to build the wing but it is framed up. I flew the airplane last year when we went back to Vermont for a week and it still flew great!

For a minute there I thought you were about to offer another kit.

Better to have it and not need it than it is to need it and not have it.

Hi Bill,

I would not have a problem doing that but when Eric sold the company, the arrangement we had ended and I could not feasibly keep going with producing the kits.  I enjoyed doing it but when Eric sold the company, everything changed.  I told Walter that he could produce the kits that I did over the years but he has been very sick and according to the auto reply I got from my last email from him, he will not be producing kits anymore either.   However, the P47D is one that I wish I had produced.
