P-38 Voodoo Mash-up

Love the old Voodoo combat planes...  they remind me of a P-38.

Then I thought, what about a mash-up of the two? 

It could be a twin engine (19's?)... or a single engine (on a 35) or maybe built to allow one plane to fly either configuration.

Your thoughts?

 The Twin Terror was kitted by Consolidated Model Co. It did have a decent size wing. I believe 54ws and thick air foil for the day. But they tended to be a bit nose heavy.

I have full-sized plans for the Suarez P-38, purchased from MAN, IIRC. Two 15's would fly it, but it would need a lot of redesign to remove all the ugliness. IMHO.  Steve

Well, if you did 2 fifteens then you could fix the nose.  It just doesn't look right.

Thanks for the comments and commentary folks.  As for the comments about the plane in the first photo being "ugly", I agree that it isn't scale.  But that can be easily fixed using profiles the match the actual production P-38. 

Being a stunt plane it appears the builder was going for a "form follows function" approach.

most times: Yup!  and you better have your running shoes on!

If the plane is set up right there is no problem if both engines run all the way through the pattern.   On my Ringmaster twin,  the Tigercat and B-25 the only thing I notice if the inboard quits first is less line pull.   Now on the Tigercat that has throttle control you don't want to set down/land with outboard engine running unless you throttle back to idle.   Also don't throttle up with the in board engine dead.

This one was morphed from a 1/2A Royal kit. It flew very nicely with two LA .25's on board. The kit was way over engineered, and the plane would never fly the whole pattern, but if you can find one, the quality of the kit was very good, despite WAY TOO MANY PARTS!

Once the 10 x 4s were on the OS 35s , in was ' in the groove ' Though overweight ( 2.25 Kilo ) and underdeveloped .
would do ends of stab fixed , mould a few thigs , on ' the next ' . Overall worthwhile for ' the learning curve .
Needs a big board & a few jigs . Counter clock wasnt the best idea yet .
o.k. on outer . Despite the Weight , it'd get a few manouvres , Down Wind , on the outer only .Depite the weight .
Shots when blue were first flights ! at Nats. As some birch had trashed my crate of planes ( see the patch ) .
Silver It'd been left outside for the rain gods ( at the next Nats . ) Worked , they got a fortnites . Leaves'd been curling up .
