OZ NATS 2012 : Official practice - day 1
« on: December 27, 2012, 09:27:08 PM »
Well they opened the gates at 8:30am with no official flying to begin before 9am - circles were being marked out and we had no less than 6 circles avaliable on a very nice football oval.

Weather was ok - great temperature ; 29 - 33 with slight winds in the morning but not enough to prevent plenty of people from flying.

Saw most of the experts getting the model's in trim and engines working nicely.

Mark Batty, Brian Eather, Reg Towell, Russell Bond and Joe Parisi all put in multiple flights.

Brian had a new FireCracker ; Not 100% on the engine. Only saw 2 electrics flying today.

I continued to get the model in better trim, adding some tip weight and slight leadout adjustment, and PA75 develops tons of power, still trying to get used to a pipe sticking out the back.

Left at 12:30 after several flights the wind picked up too 18 - 20 kph so we took lunch and currently its 3:30pm and still breezy back at the hotel enjoying the sun..

Will go back out later tonight and try to get a few photo's and a few more flights but the weather forecast is winds not easing until 9pm...

Day 1 was a little bit of a non event due to the winds.. most people finished by Mid-day or became very attached to their plane..

Tommorow Round 1 Winds are predicted by 1pm..

Who would have thought : 34 degree's 250m + Sealevel That 7% nitro is still too much...
