Just Curious about Pat Johnson P 40(s)??
« on: February 10, 2017, 07:42:36 PM »
I noticed that RSM sells a full bodied P40 by Pat Johnson. I presently have the Brodak P40 profile built from a kit, also a Pat Johnson design. Other than one being a full bodied stunter and the other a profile stunter are they the same plane? Same moments? etc. Thanks,PhillySkip

PS....I've got the P40 profile flying very nicely now and did the complete pattern with it three times the other day! I took out some nose weight and it was like night and day....good!

He infrequents the forum -- he's a member, and he sometimes responds to a post, but mostly he doesn't get on.  He's probably off being productive.

As Mark says, he's responsive to emails.  He shows up at some of our Pacific NW events -- he's a very nice guy.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

One of my flying buddies has one. His is powered by a ST-46 but an LA-46 would be just as good. Like most of Pat's designs it is very scale like and like all of Pat's designs, flies great. His has no dihedral and is built very close to kit specs, did I mention it has a front row finish? RSM kits are also excellent. If a scale like P-40 stunter is what you are looking for, look no further.  8)

Thanks Tim for giving me Pat's email addy. He filled me in on all of the P40 stuff and sent me a listing of all of his plans. I'm certain in the near future I'll be ordering something. PhillySkip
