Title: Outside on it's wheels
Post by: RC Storick on August 14, 2014, 02:10:36 PM
In less than 50 days work I have it ready to go. It might get one more sanding and one more coat of clear then rubbed out. As seen its 63 ounces. Its pretty nose heavy so I might loose 1.5 ounces when switching to the tongue muffler. This was started a week after Brodaks.

WOW! Really good looking ship..................But it could be better Sparky.  y1

How so you ask? Well I think the ghost red on the wings should match the black pattern and not have that hammer looking thing (3/4 cross?) at the TE near the fuse. But that is just my opinion.

Now if I could build one in 3-4 times that amount of time...... ???

Hope it flies good, Jerry

PS: Why didn't you do the sort of thing on the wing that you did on the nose??????????

Sparky,

The way you build you can wait six months before you get started. The way I build you should have started a year and a half ago! LL~ LL~ LL~

Actually I'd be interested in a set of plans.....even if its only an outline. I can engineer it to suit myself.

I think it is a really cool design, Jerry

It's all a SWAG and a TLAR airplane. I just see it and build it.

The next Minado I build will be period correct and not just a name sake.

I think that would be way cool to see, a nicely done and more accurate rendition of the original. No offense Sparky, this one is an awesome model, but about the only thing I see it sharing with the original Minado is the name. Staying tuned... ;D

Shape of stab ,rudder, elevator, tips and name. Other than that its only a name sake. No shared numbers its my rendition in a modern sense. I could have called it anything this is just the Continental XL's brother.

Sparky,

Another magnificent airplane!

The trim at the wing hinge line is unusual in that you normally see that further forward... I like it.

I am surprised to see the "Wicks" emblem, are they sponsoring you?

What pilot figure did you use?

I am sure that your airplane for the next Nats will be super. (I won't let the cat out of the bag, after our conversation yesterday.)

Whoooooo Buddy)))))
That Mirado is a beaut!
I have been watching the build videos you posted on it whilst in my hotel on the road. Really learning some things watching you build. I don'y get bored watching you build and sand. You have a calm and steady pace and that inspires.
Really nice to see the Mirado outside and shining.

Looks beautiful Robert!  I watched most of the build videos on Youtube. Very nice work indeed. I'm sure it even looks better up close.
