Cool Video. Liked the take clicker, good touch. Those Yo-Yo's have come a long way. I remember when the Butter Fly designs came out for the more advanced tricks.

YO! Bro! A few years back (1950) in Burkburnett, Texas, a yo-yo salesman came around recess time at the elementary school and put on a show, maybe a tenth of what Dane shows in his video.

That daughter makes the show. I remember when in 7th & 8th grade YoYo's were big thing. We had days when each of us was trying to out the other students. I doing good just to walk the dog. H^^

Thanks guys! I actually went around to the schools and did demos and science demos with yo-yo's. Plus I went around to the "boys and girls clubs"
Oh and Dale, that one is a Duncan. Haha

About 70 years ago, (if I remember correctly) a Yo-Yo demo team from Hawaii visited our grade school. They amazed everyone with their stunts, and hand carved any Duncan Yo-Yo we brought to school that day.
My Yo-Yo days ended very abruptly, when one of those between the legs stunts came up short, and nearly crippled me! n~

Great Fun Dane. Your Kids are terrific.
Thanks for posting the video. Interesting and brought back a lot of fond memories! Toys and Life was a lot simpler back then. Maybe better in some regards!

In the 50's-early 60's Duncan YO YO rep. every year in early spring would do demo's at our local neighborhood 5 & 10 BEN FRANKLIN store. I think it was always the same guy. He was really good!

Doug. That could have been Barney Akers. He was very popular back in the day in So. Ca. But he did rack up the miles traveling all over the U.S. and beyond promoting Duncan Yo-Yo's. He was the nephew of Donald F. Duncan, the owner of the Duncan Yo-Yo company. He was very gifted with his YO-YO talents.

Tony, I don't remember his name, but he did work directly for Duncan and he did say he traveled all over the country. I think maybe he was in his late 30's or early 40's. Ben Franklin kept a large Duncan display in store year round. Had a lot of great memories of that store. Mr. Nuse the owner was always promoting hobby things. One time he had a beautiful wooden cabin cruiser that had twin electric outboards that he put in a small baby pool and had kids guess on a card the total time it would run before batteries gave out. If you were the closest you got the boat/motors. Don't know who got it! This store was the cheapest in town to get standard and "O" gauge train accessories and track. Lost count of how many Monogram 1/48 scale fighter planes I bought and built and also the 10 or 15 cent balsa sheet kits of light planes like Bellanca Swifts, Stinsons, Fairchilds, Taylorcrafts, and others I can't remember, not to mention all the model cars all us kids were building in those days.

Most likely he was Barney. Those were the days.

My wife and I were walking around at the district. The stage was out and empty so I took advantage of that.... the video got cut short but more kids ran up and we all had a great time.
