Title: OT: Free Flight Help
Post by: Dan McEntee on September 25, 2019, 09:24:32 PM
I need some other memories to help me find a plan and article for a free flight rubber model that used McDonald's pancake breakfast trays for the wings and tail surfaces. There was a commercial kits of similar construction called The Super Hawk from a company called Fly Max and I have a kit of that model, and it has a 1984 date on the instruction sheet. My memory tells me that the model I'm looking for was in Model Aviation about that time period, but I could be wrong. I have been searching through my collection from 1980 to 1985 and have not found it yet. I built some when it came out and still have a sleeve of the breakfast tray lids that one needs for the airplane, and I should have copies of the plan but have npt found that either!!! HB~> HB~> Do any of you other old timer free flight guys remember the airplane I'm talking about? I want to give a set of plans to a friend of mine for him to buiild and want to do that specific airplane. There was another airplane in January 1990 Model Aviation that uses foam meat trays for wings and tail surfaces but it is NOT that airplane that I am looking for. Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.
    Type at you later,

Hi Dan,

I vaguely remember that plane. At the time, I thought it was a very clever use of old plastic trays. But, I never built one. I've looked at trays several times and thought "Man, I could make a glider out of that"! But I never did. To many other projects..........

Let us know what you come up with. Might even be a 1/2 A CL ship in there somewhere.

Cheers, Jerry

Well, it was like looking for a lost free flight model, it's always a little further than you think! I found it in September 1986 Model Aviation and it's called 'Breakfast Specials". Thanks a loot for the interest,
