I have recently started hanging up mail correspondence with other modelers. Maybe it's strange, but it's nice to have a visual of all the folks who've helped me, or who I've helped. What made me think of posting it today was Floyd sent me a thank you card for some chrome trim. I thought it was a nicer gesture than an email. However, an email is always nice too. Anyway, thank you to the control line community. It's been very welcoming to my entire family!

That's a good idea, Dane. It's nice to remember those who've helped with advice or sent us a part that kept a project on track. I have a pretty fat stash of mailing labels and notes I've received, but not necessarily emails. Though I do add each new addition to my Contacts list. Phone calls too.
I remember back when I was just a youngster in 2013, I got a phone call out of the blue one evening. All I recalled later is it was some "old guy" from a long way West of me, and we talked about simply flying loops. Somehow he knew I was winding them up tighter than beach balls, a bad habit I'd brought from a life of 1/2A. He'd probably seen my Shoestring videos. But he got me to understand about easing off the input as I exited the bottom of the loop into the climb, and then adding input as it accelerated through the downside, keeping them all the same size and round. I took that advice to the field and applied it. And it worked. I always appreciated that advice, but couldn't remember for the life of me who it was that I'd talked to that night, wishing I could thank him.
Later I read an article in CLW about one of our modeling friends who had died, with a touching paragraph added by his daughter, I think. Then I was perusing my phone contacts, and it hit me, there was his name, it was Marvin Denny. I didn't recall having added him as a contact, but since then, I've made sure I'm careful to make a note of everyone who comes, however briefly into my life and makes a difference.

I have a bad habit of not keeping good records of contacts through the years and can't remember names unless it was something fantastic.
