What stupendous photos you have taken. Sure glad some people have the money to keep the old war birds flying. I still think the greatest air show I attended was about 30+ years ago at the old Olathe Navel Air Station when the Confederate Air Force came to town. Getting to get up close and touch the planes and then watch them fly. Pity the ME-109 was grounded as it had a cracked wing spar. Then they started moving the spectators behind the spectator line. The announcer then asked is that a bunch of bees off in the east. That is when the sirens started blasting and the action started. By the time the last plane got air borne we were under attack. The pyro technics really set it off. It is still hard to imagine what our young men and women went thru in those days. So many lost on both sides of the conflict. The finally was when the wounded B-17 came in with dead engine, smoke trailing and only one gear leg down. He made the prettiest one wheel touch and go. Then to finally lland with both gear legs down only to stop in front of the veiwing stand only on the main gear. The announcer stated, "Yep a commercial airline pilot that thinks he still has a nose wheel". Then the pilot set the tail down and taxied to his spot. Still gives me shudders when I think of that air show. Oh by the way, thanks for the great pictures. DOC Holliday
