Hi Dennis;
And this year, in my opinion, things were a little subdued due to the economy and such. I just got back last night after working in the KidVenture C/L circles and my son's wedding in Kenosha. It looked to me that the Warbird attendance was down, and there were many, many vendors that were not there that we have grown accustomed to. Some of the vendors displays were scaled down also. Hard to tell about general attendance, and I haven't heard the numbers, but I think the numbers at the KidVenture area were down considerably.
But it was still an enormous show to take in all areas. One of the area that gets overlooked by some are the forums that are available on many many subjects. Some of the best are the talks given by WW Two vets and by such people as Bob Hoover, Chuck Yeager, Burt Rutan, etc. The WW Two vets won't be around much longer, unfortunately, and I encourage you to attend any that might be held next year.
The Museum and Pioneer Airport are an attraction all by themselves, and they are included in the price of admission. We have learned that the best thing to do is to make a plan of what to see and do, and then take advantage of the trams and shuttles that run on the grounds to get from one place to another in order to save wear and tear on your feet!
I made my dorm room reservations for next year before I left, also!
Type at you later,
Dan McEntee
