Not sure where to put this, so here it is..............
Well, I was checking out the Tower site this morning and was looking at motors and I came across this one guys:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGGV7&P=0
I guess that they are actually gone now.
Looks like the AX and a few FX motors are going to be it for Tower handling.
Who knows,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ??? ???

I already mention in an other post.....maybe Kaz Minato Japan can help you.

Who knows? They say "temporarily unavailable" -- maybe they mean it.
There are still a lot of engines left on da Bay, and if OS leaves the market it'll create a demand for good-quality engines that someone may just decide to fill.
-
This may be a sign of the times with the move to electrics. I have enough slimers to last me till I am gone.

By the time you add the sound system and the castor oil vaporizer, the weight and expense exceed that of a glow engine, though.

I heard through the grapevine that Brodak 40s will be available soon.
-
Maybe OS will come out with a lighter crank case and true chrome plating and call it the NY46.

Not sure if it is okay to post this but, Bob Brooks of the Control Line Store on Ebay, has a very nice new Enya 40 S for what I think, is a very reasonable price for Enya quality.
-
Carl: I think I'll wait 3 months and then post a "Whatever happened to the LA-46? Don't they make it anymore?" and see how many people reply with a "I posted that years ago!" or "where have you been?" S?P
Did you mention to these guys you found one at a neighborhood garage sale NIB for $40? S?P S?P
I paid $55 for the NIB I found up at Lebanon.... ;D
I want me one of those new NY46s!
Can I pre-apologize for being bad?
-
I paid $25 for a nice one at an R/C flea market not long ago. I wonder how many more times I can do that?

Mike...PLEASE! "Slimers" are trout and other salmonids. In the future, please refer to glow engines as "Greasers". ;) Steve
-
Wait! I thought greasers were the guys driving 51 Mercs...
-
Too bad. Last of the reasonably priced readily available 40 plus sized engines easy to tune for stunt.

Scott
Yeah,I know,,,,,,,,,,,,,
And they were mainly talking about the CL version at the time. Now looks official, the 46 is gone for good as far
as manufacturing is concerned. And the 25 is Temp. unavailable. (which, I bet means gone as well)
Would be great if there were a motor the SAME weight as the OS BUT with better (read ABC or AAC) and ball bearing
supported crank techno at the same price. But, one can only dream. :)
-
Not to hold out false hope, but you may have seen a Chinese knock-off of the OS 46 SF after it went out of production. It came out as a 51 but looked the same externally and ran very similarly. Don't recall the name but they were advertised in the back of MA for $55. Dick and I bought two. I later gave (or traded) mine to one off our club members. They run very well.
Perhaps we'll see an LA-46 knock-off?
-
Scott
Are you talking about the ASP motor?
They are in their (about) 25th or 30th year of production and have changed over the years.
I used them over seas and they ran great. Never had any problems with them if you leave them alone
and use them properly.
Then there was also the SC or was that the CS motors..........

I wasn't quite that lucky, but I did score a N.I.B .46 LA-S for $35 a couple of months ago at a swap meet.

I had one given to me NIB! ;D

lucky dog you. H^^
Now, if ASP could come out with a Clone of the motor in true ABC construction,.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Makes you want to say, HHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM ~>

Carl,
I'm not that lucky, it was blue.

Here's Dick's note on the engine that looked to be same as an OS 46 SF (we dropped it right into place):
SK engs. Kangke Ind. USA www. Kangkeusa.com SK .50 non-ringed ABC ( alum, brass ,chrome) schnuerle ports. double ball bearings on crank. R/C only, need to make vent and a spray bar asm.
So, maybe they'll do an LA-46 knock-off....
-
I had a SK 50 in a RC plane. Good engine, only thing I did was change to a 4 stroke plug. It is heavy, but a lot of the heft was muffler.

I remember those motors. They were a very nice motor andfor the money you could notgo wrong with them.
I do believe that they are no longer made tho.
I even checked the Chinese sites for them.

If the engines are no longer made, they are maintaining a very nice website.
Anyone using one of their engines recently?
Bill

Looks well made.

you missed the STOCK = 0 down by the price. H^^

Kaz Minato sent me an email that he had some new Enyas in stock. Looking over his online store, he still has 23 OS 46LA-S' in stock!
I bought 2 last month and the total cost with shipping for 2 with standard OS NVAs for those engines came to $222.00, so, figuring $85/engine and $13/NVA, that leaves $26 shipping from Japan. Basically the same price you'd pay if you buy an R/C version here and have to buy a venturi and an NVA.

Have a look at these.

Have a look at these.
Listed weight for their 46A is 16.61 ounces! Quite a bit more then the OS 46LA-S listed weight of 9.3 ounces. Factory mufflers typically add about 3-4 ounces.
-
The JBA is a ball bearing engine, need to compare it to the OS 46AxII. I believe it is 14oz.(engine only)
