Hallmark-Gene Shaffer-Stunt News???
« on: December 26, 2013, 08:58:06 PM »
There is a really nice photo of Gene Shaffer's Hallmark in Bob Hunt's column this month in Model Aviation.  I know that this airplane is a PAMPA plan.  Does anyone know off hand what issue of Stunt News in which is was published?  This may very well be my new Nostalgia 30 ship.  Wonder how it would do on E-power? ;D

Hello Shawn,
Bob is presently flying that plane on a 4S setup, and it is very well suited to E-power.
It's a low-drag design with plenty of wing area that flies very well without having to carry much battery weight.
I'll let Bob describe the installed equipment.

Happy New Year,

Dean,

Thanks for the info on Bob's "Hallmark".  I just pulled out my old SN and found the article on the Hallmark, thank you Allen!  What a beautiful ship.  I will give Bob a call and get the particulars on his "E" powertrain.  I am getting interested in the Nostalgia 30 class.  After 25 year or so of looking at the same classic models done over and over again, it is nice to see "new" subjects to build.

I remember Gene's USA AMA at Flushing Meadows. This was the second full fuselage stunt I saw fly after Bob Lampiones Sabre. Gene was cracking really low square maneuvers VERY close to the ground with this ship. The ship is a killer wind flyer!

So Bob...what do you think about power for the Hallmark?  Eflite Power 25 on 4s?  I would like to use one of Alan Resinger's and Chris Cox's 3 blade CF 11X 5.5 pusher props. :)  Maybe cut it down to 10" although I would hate to cut one of their beautiful CF props. :(  Those props are works of art.
