Clint, Assuming that this "boost port" is opposite the exhast port you may be able to see it by looking in the exhaust port. My LAS 40 purchased last year doesnt have one and neither does my LA46 which was converted to CL from an RC engine.
Randy, next dumb question, What does a Boost Port do? I assume it's something used in RC engines because you always hear about people blocking them off for conversion to control line. Is it for smoother throttle response or something? I've also read in lots of places (including RC universe) that the LAs never came out with a boost port so this may have been a recent modification???
Edit: You would think if there were two versions there would be two part numbers for the cylinder& piston sets. I can only find one ie OSMG4902 for the 40 and OSMG4903 for the 46.
Cheers
HI Warren
this is a direct cut n paste from the Tower parts web site
"""" This has 4-ports and an alignment notch for proper installation. """""" .
Includes: 1 matched cylinder and piston only, piston pin is NOT is included.
Specifications: Bore: .8346" (21.2mm) Stroke .734"

If they are making a mistake or not we will find out later??? however it maybe a moot point if they have discontinued this series of motors.
as far as what a boost port is , most all model airplane engines that are loop scavenged have 3 intake ports, 2 main and 1 boost.
There are some variations on this as Super Tigre had a few with 2 Port's,
ROSSI and others has some with 5 ports, PA engines have 2 or 3.
Generally speaking ,the loop charged ,boost port engines will produce more power at a higher RPM.
Super Tiger back years ago in the transition period between single by pass motors , and their new loop charged engines , had Perry ports added to boost the power of their single by pass cross scavenged engines.
This was a take off on loop scavenging, and had 4 very small boost ports cut into the sleeve in the front and back of the motor 180 degrees apart. It was claimed to make more HP and several 100 RPMs.
The reason almost every engine maker has gone to Loop porting is it is much better way to charge a cylinder , and also to evacuate the exhaust gasses out of the cylinders. Thus producing much more power.
