OS 60 FPs

          Is there any stunt application for the OS60 FP?  Word on the street is that its a heavy motor, but being plain bearing, I cant imagine it being too bad.  Searches on here for information are inconclusive...as always.  Anyone run one?  Thanks a bunch.

 I've many times wondered about the .60 FP too, should be a real good engine I would think. Nice ones pop up on Ebay every so often. I'd also think about any model with a 650/700-ish square inch wing would be a good candidate. Scale up the T-6!

OS lists it at 18oz without the muffler.  Sounds like a porker.

I have done several venturi's for this motor. for my customers...   A bit heavy, but lots of grunt...

The crankshaft is heaver than several ball bearing versions total weight was more then the Ro-Jett-61

Looks like a Pat King creation. A variation on the Ringmaster theme. Should fly good and the engine is good for balance.

A few years back, I set one up for stunt.
Minimal internal mods - just my usual head rework.
I attempted a bit of lightening as seen in the photos - still heavy.
I test ran it and it ran perfectly and surprisingly smooth.
Since I don't do much with the larger planes, I never flew it - just gave it away, along with a large plane.
Hopefully, the new owner will set it up for some test flying.

Yep! Shur' is and it flies great, pulls solidly but not too excess and is source of a lot of good words whenever three's a bunch of kids around watching!  Wish I had the courage to let one of them (with the skills, of course) take the handle and show off!!

It happens that I asked John Hall (noted Fox collector/historian) about the .60FP, years ago. He had run one, and said it vibrated badly. I guess opinions will vary on what that means. The test stand may have some effect on whatever the opinion is, and I don't know what John's setup was.  Steve

I forgot to mention in my last post that i also have an FP60 converted to C/L I used a slightly thicker head gasket as the only change to the engine. It runs smoothly and likes 13 inch props. Had plans to use it but it never did make it to a model. Still have it in the pile somewhere.

Steve - I had heard the same thing regarding the FP 60 vibration.
So, I was quite surprised at how smoothly mine ran.
I used an old Top-Flite 13-6 wooden prop, very carefully balanced.
